Welcome!

Hello one and all and welcome to the site with all the information you need on the South Manchester Assassin's Guild. It's not as scary as you might first think. There are Assassin's Guilds across the country that exist simply to have some safe and creative fun. It's a great way to meet new people and hone those instincts.

Ever played Mafia?? Well, if you like that then you'll love this. A game where everyone is the assassin. All about tracking your target down before someone finds you, of misleading your friends and earning their trust while plotting the most creative assassination in history.

Everyone is welcome to play so long as they agree to the code of conduct on this site.

Good luck,

The Umpire

If you've read the Code of Conduct and you'd like to play, you should provide the Umpire with:

  • Your full name, indicating the name (or nickname) by which you are usually known.

  • Your college and course (if you are a student)

  • Your e-mail address

  • Your official address (i.e. room number and building/court). You should also give details of anywhere else you may be living during the course of the Game or intending to spend a number of nights. The Umpire will employ discretion over whether or not to make these extra details available to your assassins. Any player with a real-life psychopath trying to kill you, explain to the Umpire and you will be excused. Anyone with a real-life psychopath trying to kill them who wants to play Killer as well needs their head looking at. Should you become Wanted (see below), this information will be made publicly available on the website along with your name.

  • The extent to which water-based weaponry is allowed in your room. The options are no water (no water pistols or other water-based weapon may be used in your room), with care (small water-based weapons may be used if the user is careful) and full water (anything goes).

  • An initial pseudonym, which will be used in news reports to disguise your true identity.

  • Anything else which your assassins should be informed of, such as an allergy to a substance which might be used as a poison, or that you live in a shared set and assassins should be wary of killing your roommate.

Anyone found to have supplied false or misleading details to the Umpire will be disqualified.

Note that by signing up to play you are agreeing to report any assassins-related events which you are involved in for the period during which you remain alive, including your death. You are also giving permission for other players to enter or attempt to enter your accommodation should you leave doors unlocked or windows open and to make attempts to 'kill' you, acting in good faith and utilising such methods as described elsewhere in the Rules.

You play the game of Assassins entirely at your own risk. Neither the Umpire nor any other member of the Guild, past or present, can accept any liability for personal injury, loss of, or damage to, property or other loss incurred during the game. Nothing contained in these Rules should be taken as encouragement or permission to break the Law.

You will be assigned a weapon by the umpire upon the commencement of the game. Each new target you receive will be accompanied by a new weapon. If you would like to request the inclusion of particular weapons please include this within your sign up email.

Introduction

Ever played the game Hitman? Well your about to embark on your very own assassination attempt. I will assign you with a target (whom you may not yet know) and it will be your job to track this person down and to 'assassinate' them. Once you have achieved this that person will then be out of the game and you will receive their target for your next attempt. The game will end once there is only one surviving assassin within the game. However, as the game will continue then to the next round the final three to remain 'alive' will all receive points so that over the course of the year we will be able to determine who is worthy of being crowned 'Assassin Elite' (title to be confirmed).

During the course of the game you may only attack your target or the person tracking you if by chance you discover who that is. You may also attack anyone who has breached the games rules and been placed on the 'Wanted List'. For any kill to be valid it must be achieved by the weapon assigned to you by the umpire.

It is the responsibility of Players to read their e-mail frequently to see whether they have been put on the Wanted list. Players are deemed to know that they are Wanted/Police/Incompetent as soon as these details are published on the website. They are not Wanted/Police/Incompetent before this, and you cannot kill someone just because you believe that they are about to become Wanted, unless they have explicitly told you that they are Wanted.
